Jaimie  Wei-Hung Lien，香港中文大学商学院助理教授，北京交通大学经济管理学院客座教授。2001年获得美国卫尔斯利女子学院经济数学学士学位，2005年获得美国加利福尼亚大学圣地亚哥分校经济硕士学位，2010年获得美国加利福尼亚大学圣地亚哥分校经济博士学位。研究领域包括行为经济学、实验经济学、应用微观经济学，研究主题涉及参照依赖(Reference  Dependence)、损失厌恶(Loss  Aversion)、现时偏误（Present  Bias）、代表性偏误（Representativeness  Bias）、社会型偏好(Social  Preference)、自我控制(Self  Control)等重要行为现象。先后主持过国家自然科学基金项目、教育部科研项目、香港研究资助局项目，发表论文近二十篇。目前已有论文发表于Nature  Communications、PNAS、American  Economic Review (Papers and Proceedings)、Games  and Economic Behavior、Journal  of Economic Behavior and Organization、Experimental  Economics等国际期刊。2016年被中国信息经济学会授予"中国信息经济学2016青年创新奖"和"中国信息经济学2011-2015理论贡献奖"。个人学术网页：https://jaimielien.weebly.com

主要内容：  

How  do competitive environments and institutions influence pro-social behavior?  Although contests are theoretically recognized as a highly effective method of  motivation when resources are limited, recent studies (Carpenter, Matthews and  Schirm, 2010; Buser and Dreber, 2016) suggest that the competitive nature of  contests can induce negative behavioral externalities in social domains. Using a  laboratory experiment of real effort contests with treatments varying by prize  structure, we test the effects of different types of contests and their outcomes  on behavior in the classic games used to measure pro-sociality in the  literature. We assess the within-subject effects of the contest on choices in  the Prisoner’s Dilemma, Trust Game and Public Goods Game. Across subjects, we  examine the relative impacts of standard all-pay auction contests, Tullock  contests with probabilistic winning, proportional prizes and piece rate payment  with social comparison. Contests generally tend to decrease trusting behavior by  senders in the Trust game, while cooperative behavior in the Prisoner’s Dilemma  is negatively affected by all compensation schemes besides the all-pay auction  contest. Our study has managerial consequences for the structuring of incentives  in the workplace when a combination of competition and cooperation is needed  among workers.

竞争性的环境和制度如何影响亲社会行为？虽然在理论上认为在资源稀缺环境下，竞争是激励的一种非常有效的方法，但最近的研究(Carpenter,  Matthews and Schirm, 2010; Buser and Dreber, 2016)认为，竞赛的竞争性会导致个人行为的社会负外部性。  

通过对不同奖项结构的真实努力竞赛的实验室实验，我们测试了不同类型的竞赛及其结果对文献中用于衡量亲社会行为的经典游戏中的行为的影响。我们评估了竞争对囚徒困境、信任博弈和公共物品博弈中选择的主体内效应（within-subject  effects）。在不同的研究对象中，我们研究了标准全支付拍卖竞赛、概率获胜的图洛克竞赛、比例奖品和社会比较的计件工资的相对影响。  

我们的结论是：在信任博弈中，竞争一般会降低发信人的信任行为，补偿方案一般会减少囚徒困境中的合作行为，而全支付拍卖竞赛不受影响。
